Three sisters gang-raped in Gireida locality, South Darfur
On Monday, three sisters were gang-raped by militiamen in Gireida locality, South Darfur. “Eight government-backed militiamen on camelback, wearing military uniforms, at about 8am on Monday, attacked a family of father, mother, and three daughters, tending their farmland in the area of Um Asal, about 10km west of Gireida town”, a farmer reported to Radio Dabanga. “The Janjaweed beat and lashed them, and tied the parents when they wanted to protect their daughters. The mother was seriously injured. Then they raped the girls alternately for eight consecutive hours.” A rescue team, formed by citizens in the area, brought the five victims to a hospital in Gireida town.
