Three people killed in cattle raid, N. Darfur
At least three people have been killed and several injured on Sunday in the area of Umm Hajara, Saraf Omra locality in North Darfur, as a result of clashes between livestock owners and pro-government militants.A local source informed Radio Dabanga that Abbala militias attacked the area of Umm Hajara, situated at about 8 kilometers east of Saraf Omra on Sunday, early in the evening, with the purpose of looting livestock. The source stated that the livestock owners fought the militants in an attempt to prevent them from seizing their cattle. He added that the attack has left two livestock owners dead and another four injured. Two of the wounded victims were taken to Zalingei for treatment. Besides, the attack has claimed the live of one of the militants. Moreover, the source said the attack resulted in the displacement of approximately 3,000 people from the areas of Umm Hajara, Korkoley and Hanboul to Saraf Omra. Radio Dabanga file photo
