Three dead as govt. forces, Border Guards clash in Zalingei, Central Darfur
Three people were killed and six wounded in clashes between government forces and the paramilitary Border Guards in Zalingei, capital of Central Darfur on Monday and Tuesday. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, multiple sources said that a group of Border Guards in a Land Cruiser mounted with a Dushka machine-gun abducted a Salamat tribal leader at the Hamidiya bus station in the eastern part of Zalingei on Monday. “Government forces tracked the kidnappers. They killed two of them, wounded four others, and seized the Land Cruiser. “On Tuesday, the Border Guards militia took revenge, and attacked government forces inside Zalingei at broad daylight. An agent of the security service, named El Sadeg Abdu, was killed and two policemen were injured,” a source reported.
