Three Darfur displaced men murdered and robbed: witnesses
Three displaced men have been murdered and robbed “by militiamen” in North and West Darfur, witnesses have reported to Radio Dabanga. On Sunday a resident of camp Armankul in West Darfur was reportedly shot dead and robbed by militiamen. A leader of the camp for displaced persons told radio Dabanga that three militiamen wearing military uniforms opened fire on Yahiya Saad, who was on his way to the camp from Tendelti market. He died on the spot. The militiamen then stole SDG2,000 ($450) and his mobile phone and fled, according to the sheikh. Also on Sunday, Nur Al Din Hussein of Saraf Omra camp in Saraf Omra locality of North Darfur was shot dead by militiamen while riding his motorcycle towards the camp. The incident occurred near a police. Hussein was killed outright, after which the gunmen took his motorcycle and fled. According to witnesses, Mohamed Adam was killed by the same militiamen last week, who dumped his body east of camp Dankoj. One of the camp’s leaders described the security situation in Saraf Omra to Radio Dabanga as “bad”. He explained that the native administration of the camp has met with the Saraf Omra commissioner and Unamid and questioned them about the security situation. He called upon Unamid to provide patrols to protect the displaced. He added that the mission told them the government refuses to allow the work of patrols and therefore the mission cannot do its work with the displaced.” File photo
