Taaysha, Berti and Beni Halba leaders: stop tribal fighting in Darfur

On the occasion of Eid el Adha three native administration leaders of Darfur sent messages to all Darfuri’s, urging them to stand above their grievances and stop the tribal fighting as soon as possible, stressing  that in the end the people of Darfur themselves will be the losers. The three tribal leaders of el Taaysha, Berti and Beni Halba tribes appealed to the people of Darfur and Sudan to put aside their differences, reconcile and unite. They stressed the need for unity, social peace and working together to return Darfur to its glorious past. The Nazir of el Taaysha, Mohamed Bishara, appealed via Radio Dabanga to all the people of Darfur and South Darfur to stop fighting because conflicts “will not help people forward.” The King of the Berti, Yasir Ahmadai expressed his hope that during the coming year peace and security will be realised in Darfur and that the tribal wars which took place recently would be the last ones. He urged the people of Darfur to forgive each other on the occasion of the Eid, stressing that the only just path is unity in Darfur. The Nazir of the Beni Halba, el Tom el Hadi Dabaka stressed the need for cohesion in order to stop the bloodshed. He demanded from “all the leaders in Darfur to stand together, ease all the tensions, and resolve the problems, so Darfur “will be able to return to its glorious past.” File photo
