Swarms of birds destroy millet, maize in Yassin, East Darfur

Birds have allegedly ruined ​​more than 1,000 acres of farmland planted with millet and maize in the area of Esheraya, Yassin locality, in East Darfur. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, farmers from the area reported that large swarms of birds have completely destroyed this year’s crops of millet and maize. They added that beans are the only crop that remains. The farmers accuse the agricultural administration of Yassin locality and East Darfur state of being the cause of the damage to their crops.According to them the authorities disregarded their concerns and complaints for nearly a month.
