Supporters cheer women’s football match in Sudan’s capital
The Hashim Deifallah Sports Hall in Khartoum hosted a women’s football match on Thursday. Large numbers of fans, representatives of civil society organisations, as well as some foreign diplomats in Khartoum, turned up to support the teams. Both teams belong to the Women’s Challenge Team, established in 2001 at the Comboni play ground in Khartoum. The Team is made up of 52 female footballers. Before the start of the match, 22 members of the Women’s Challenge Team were divided into a ‘red’ and a ‘green’ team. The red team won 6-1. According to the organisers of the match, the Women’s Challenge Team is preparing for international matches.
