Sudanese soldiers assault, rob civilians in Central Darfur
The residents of the northern camp in Nierteti, Central Darfur, are complaining about assaults by soldiers inside and outside the camp. A sheikh of the camp reported to Radio Dabanga about the arrival of a new army recruits two weeks ago. They settled at the Istiraha area, east of Nierteti town.“The new forces attack citizens and displaced people. They rob the people at gunpoint inside their homes, the camp, and on the streets. They also steal fruits and vegetables from orchards and farmlands.” The most recent assaults occurred on Saturday, when the soldiers beat a group of displaced from the camp and robbed them of their belongings.
