Sudanese security service detain student in North Darfur capital
Security authorities arrested student Mohamed Al Maki Mohamed Adam last week in North Darfur. The student was attending the University of El Fasher’s Faculty of Education. One of his peers said that students first learnt of the arrest on Sunday, when they were contacted by security personnel telling them that Al Maki was in the hospital. When they investigated the matter they found out that the student was still in the prison system and the phone call had been only a trick to arrest the others. The student’s friends called for his immediate release and also expressed their fear of his being subjected to torture and ill-treatment.
