Sudanese security detain then release 40 students
The authorities in Babanusa, West Kordofan, released 40 students of El Salam University detained during a raid by security services, police, and students of the National Congress Party on a discussion corner organised by the students union on Monday.
Five students were injured in the raid. Students said that the security services and the police severely beat and tortured them. They strongly criticised the decision by the university administration that sent a warning to finally dismiss student Ibrahim Mitherib from the Faculty of Economics, charging him with incitement.
They described the decision as unjust and unfair, especially as the protestors were demanding a good study environment as a right guaranteed by the Constitution and the Law.
