Sudanese Professor now detained without trial for four months
The detention of Prof Siddiq Nourain from the University Alnuhud in West Kordofan, has now entered its fourth month. No formal charges have been laid, and he has not appeared in court. The security forces arrested Prof Nourain on 16 January following protests by the Darfur Students Association, against the university administration. Prof Nourain is a supervisor of the Association. He was initially taken to Al Nuhud prison, then to Al Fula and finally to El Obeid, capital of North Kordofan, where he has so far remained under arbitrary detention.
