Sudanese journalists condemn arrest
On Thursday journalist Rashan Taufik O’Shea working for mainstream newspaper Al Tayar was arrested by security forces a source told Radio Dabanga. O’Shea was released on the same day but the Sudanese Network of Journalists condemned the arrest, referring to the violation of Article 25 of media law which permits a journalist to not ‘be subjected to any act to affect the integrity of his commitment to professional duties. ‘ The Network described the arrest as an exploitation of dangerous powers, and a violation fo freedom of expression protected by international treaties ratified by Sudan.
