The judge convicted Fouad Osman, Nuseiba Meseek, and Yousef Haroun for disturbing the public order, and sentenced each to one month suspended imprisonment and a fine of SDG2,000 ($325).
Khalid Ahmed, Sudanese Congress Party Foreign Relations Officer, told Radio Dabanga that the defence lawyer paid the SDG6,000 on their behalf.
In July, the party’s political secretary and two other prominent members were each sentenced to 20 lashes for disturbing the public order by holding a public speech against the ruling National congress Party at the Libya Market in Omdurman.
Leading party members responded at the public flogging by saying that they will continue “shaking the Khartoum regime’s corners until it is overthrown”.
