Sudanese air raid in East Jebel Marra kills man
A man died in a Sudanese Air Force bombardment in East Jebel Marra on Friday morning. Abu Shama was killed along with his horse and his cart destroyed, which was loaded with charcoal, when an Antonov dropped three bombs in the area of Dady, 30km west of Tabit at about 11.30am. He was on his way along the forests and agricultural fields to Dady. Witnesses from the area told Radio Dabanga that the bombing also killed about 45 sheep, grazing 3km from the site were the bombs hit Abu Shama. The residents of East Jebel Marra reiterated their appeal to the UN Security Council and human rights activists to pressure the Sudanese government to stop the “continuing indiscriminate aerial bombardments on East Jebel Marra, the Nuba Mountains in South Kordofan, and the Blue Nile State”.They also demanded from the UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, to instruct the African Union/United Nations Hybrid operation in Darfur (Unamid) to urgently access East Jebel Marra.
