Sudan to boost oil & gas production in 2015
The Sudanese Ministry of Oil aims at increasing the country’s oil reserves by drilling more than 250 new wells in the coming year. Sudan News Agency (Suna) quoted Oil Minister Mekkawi Mohamed Awad, who informed the National Assembly this week that 253 exploratory wells will be operated next year. This will not only boost the energy reserves by 65.4 million barrels of oil, and 300 billion cubic feet of gas, Awad explained, but also attract foreign investment, and contribute to the settlement of Sudan’s debts. Also measures will be undertaken by the Ministry to import oil derivatives, in order to cover a gap in petroleum products in the country, estimated at 2,700,000 metric tons.
