Sudan should stop CAR fighters crossing border: Sese

The armed conflict in the Central African Republic (CAR) will lead to a disaster in Darfur if the border is not monitored, Dr Tijani Sese, the head of the Darfur Regional Authority (DRA) said in a press conference in Khartoum on Thursday. He warned of the conflict spreading and predicted that the war in the neighbouring country will affect the security situation in Darfur, as fighters from CAR easily cross the Sudanese border with their weapons and equipment. The French troops in CAR have begun to disarm the militias in the country. They demanded from fighters loyal to former rebel leader, President Michel Djotodia, to return to their barracks, and from the other militiamen, most of them mercenaries from Chad and Sudan, to hand-in their weapons, Sese explained. The DRA leader called on the Sudanese authorities to follow the example of Chad and take strict measures in order to prevent CAR fighters from crossing the border into the country.
