Sudan Journalists Union issues first appeal for detained journalist
The Sudanese Journalists Union publically called for the release of the journalist Jaafar Sabki, given there are no criminal charges against him. This comment was issued by the Union after the arrest of Sabki nearly four months ago.
The Sudanese Journalists Union publically called for the release of the journalist Jaafar Sabki, given there are no criminal charges against him. This comment was issued by the Union after the arrest of Sabki nearly four months ago.Mohiuddin Titawi, chairman of the Union, said that a previous deal with prosecutors for release of detained journalists had fallen through. He suggested that somebody in the security service had person reasons to block the deal.
He acknowledged that the Journalists Union had tried and failed to interview Jaafar Sabki, who has been detained in Kober Prison. The Union of Journalists in its formal statement called for Sabki’s release or a fair trial.
