Feisal Hasan, Assistant to Sudan’s President Omar Al Bashir has called on El Hilu “to abandon the delay in approving the decision to transfer humanitarian aid from within the United Nations to help those in need in areas controlled by the rebel movement”.
‘Two armies’
At a meeting in Khartoum with people from South Kordofan, he stressed that “the government will not agree to the presence of two armies in one country,” and that “this should be clear to the SPLM-N”.
As previously reported by Radio Dabanga, the meeting between the Sudanese government and the other faction of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North led by Abdelaziz El Hilu (SPLM-N) over the resumption of peace negotiations concluded without significant progress last week.
Consultations
The rebel faction and the Sudanese government were invited to several days of consultations in October under the chairmanship of the African Union High-level Implementation Panel (AUHIP) in Addis Ababa and Johannesburg.
During these meetings, the AUHIP and the government proposed to agree on three documents: the draft framework agreement for 2014, the draft agreement on the cessation of hostilities for humanitarian purposes, and the Roadmap agreement of 2016.
President Omar Al Bashir
In White Nile State, President Omar Al Bashir said that “Sudan will not compromise its decision on anyone who had any impact and would continue to believe that the livelihood is in the hands of God alone”.
Addressing the celebrations of the Popular Defence Forces in Kosti yesterday, Al Bashir said that “despite the circumstances, the country is standing still and stable in light of the collapse and destruction experienced by a number of countries in the region as a result of wars and conflicts”.
