Sudan embassy in Libya damaged in attack
Unknown assailants attacked the Sudanese embassy in the Libyan capital of Tripoli on Friday. “In the early hours of Friday morning, eight masked men in two four-wheel drive vehicles fired on the Sudanese embassy with rocket propelled grenades,” witnesses told the Libyan press. “One of the attackers was wounded in the ensuing gunfight with the guards.” No other casualties were reported. The premises sustained minor damage. The Sudanese Ambassador to Libya told the Libya Herald that he was surprised about the attack, as “Sudan has no enemies in Libya”. Earlier this month, however, Gen. Khalifa Heftar, the leader of Operation Dignity, fighting Islamist militias in Libya, said that Sudan’s position on fighting terrorism in Libya is “ambiguous”.
