Sudan army ‘will eliminate rebels from Darfur’
The Sudanese armed forces have said they will use the most powerful methods to eliminate rebel movements in Darfur. Sudan army spokesman Al Soarma Khaled Saad told the government sponsored Sudan Media Center that the military is intensely monitoring the areas, and controlling all routes between Darfur and South Sudan ready for rebels who may be moving around the area. In an interview with Radio Dabanga, the Justice and Equality Movement spokesman and leader of the Sudan Revolutionary Front, Jibril Adam Bilal described the remarks as merely an attempt by the National Congress Party to rally morale amongst the armed forces. He also said this statement confirms the government’s will to use internationally banned weapons, looted from the fallen regime of Gaddafi in Libya. Bilal accused the government of recently using chemical weapons in North Darfur, South Darfur and South Kordofan. He said this is leading to many new cases of patients suffering with malignant diseases.
