SRF to hold conference
Will include 44 members from all opposition groupsThe newly formed Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) announced on Tuesday that it will soon be holding a conference comprising 44 members from its constituent groups.The SRF was formed on November 11 by the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), Sudan Liberation Army-Abdul Wahid (SLA-AW) and Sudan Liberation Army-Minni Minnawi (SLA-MM).Yasser Arman, secretary-general of the SPLM-N, told Radio Dabanga that the forthcoming conference would include 44 members with the heads and ten other members of each armed opposition group. He added that the conference will look at ways to overthrow the regime in Khartoum.“All these members are being contacted and we are also talking to the political forces to expand the alliance. Apart from that we are in touch with the international community and the regional organizations who would be willing to support the SRF,” Arman said in an interview and added that they are trying to build institutions and alliances in all cities and villages of Sudan.’Regime change, not solely our task’On the other hand, the SPLM-N president and former governor of Blue Nile state Malik Aggar, told Al Jazeera that the responsibility to bring about regime change in Sudan does not solely lie with the SRF but includes the entire Sudanese opposition.He added that the SPLM-N will achieve its goals through two approaches – conventional war and guerrilla warfare. At the same time, Aggar called for humanitarian help for people in areas that have been bombed by Sudanese Air Force (SAF) in neighboring South Sudan and Ethiopia.
