SPLA-N: Sudan government drops 17 bombs on Nuba Mountains

A rebel group in South Kordofan is blaming the government of Sudan for dropping 17 bombs on different villages of the state’s Nuba Mountains. Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North (SPLA-N) spokesman Arnu Ngutulu Lodi said one person was killed as a result of the shelling carried out by an Antonov airplane. Lodi told Radio Dabanga the civilian Ibrahim Ibrra Al Tieb, 60, died when a bomb hit the Troge village on 31 March at 11:00am.  On 1 April two bombs were dropped the Al Ganaya village, another two on Fama, one on Troge, one on Angolo, one on Adar and four bombs hit Jebel Kua, the spokesman was quoted as saying. According to him no casualties were reported. A house was destroyed on the next day when Troge was targeted by five bombs along with Boram village, which was hit by one bomb, in line with the rebels’ reports.   “These criminal attacks coincide with Omar Al Bashir’s propaganda speech before the parliament, confirming that the president normally does the opposite of what he claims”, Lodi noted. He said that “millions of people” continue suffering in Blue Nile, and in South Kordofan and the Nuba Mountains because of “this corrupt” regime that denies them food, medicine and education and use delaying tactics to increase their suffering. Radio Dabanga was not able to contact the Sudanese army for comments.File photo: Animal fodder burns in Kauda, South Kordofan, after an aerial raid in early February (radiotamazuj.org)
