Specialists in Daein Hospital in South Darfur handed in a collective resignation to the administration on Friday. The resignation of surgeons, pediatricians, dentists and gynaecologists serving in the hospital came along with the resignation of the members of the People’s Committee for Development of the Daien Hospital.
Both sets of collective resignations are meant to protest the decision of the local security to dismiss the manager of the hospital, Ibrahim Al-Taweel, who was accused of being unaccountable.
A source in the hospital told Radio Dabanga, “A complicated case of the birth has been transferred to Nyala Hospital on Thursday as a result of the ensuing situation in Daein hospital.”
The doctors in Nyala hospital are also on strike to protest the government’s ineptitude to meet their demands of better working conditions in the hospital.
