South Kordofan sit-in to demand activists’ release
Residents of Abu Jubaiha town in southeast South Kordofan organised a sit-in on Monday, demanding the release of activists and students detained by security agents last Thursday. The people protested in front of the office of the National Security and Intelligence Service (NISS) in the town, a youth activist reported to Radio Dabanga from Abu Jubaiha. A delegation consisting of Abu Jubaiha notables and youth representatives met with the commissioner of Abu Jubaiha locality, and NISS officers. The security authorities promised to release all the detained youths. Among the detainees are Moataz Mohamed Ahmed El Jeili, veterinarian, Mohamed Abdel Ghaffar Saeed, and Ahmed Adam El Jarari, university graduates, El Daw Kambal Suleiman, Sudan University student, Sirajeldin Ahmed El Naeema, and El Buseili Saleh.The youths had expressed their discontent about the poor basic services and persistent power outages for more than four months in the area, accusing government institutions of corruption.
