South Kordofan leaders criticise ban on relief agencies
Civil society leaders in Taqali in El Abbasiya locality, South Kordofan, directed harsh criticism to the Federal and State Governments’ decision to ban humanitarian organisations from the area. The leaders described the decision as unjust. “Especially as it puts the 35,000 people in and around Taqali before two choices: either flee and be displaced, or starve to death”, one of the civil society representatives told Radio Dabanga. The former commissioner of El Abbasiya locality, Nil Ahmed Adam, reported that the people in the area of Um Marah are living in humanitarian and health conditions “that can be described as tragic and catastrophic”.
