South Darfur tribes agree on peace
Leaders of the Beni Halba and Salamat tribes reached a peace agreement in Kubum, South Darfur, last week.
Gaheldin Ahmed, the Commissioner of Kubum locality, told Radio Dabanga that the chiefs agreed on the cessation of hostilities, the payment of blood money, re-opening of the markets and water sources, as well as the tracks for migrating herds.
On 18 November, at least 15 people from both sides were killed and injured in clashes between the tribes following a dispute over stolen cattle. “Four Salamat and four Beni Halba tribesmen were killed. Two members of the Salamat and five of the Beni Halba were injured.
