A South Darfur Imam who was also treasurer for the local gold exploration workers was shot dead in his home during a pre-dawn raid on Wednesday.
A witness told Radio Dabanga that two militiamen riding a motorcycle raided Imam Mekki Ahmed Mekki’s home at Singi administrative unit of El Radoom locality in South Darfur at 1.30 am.
The attackers fired three bullets onto Mekki’s head and chest, killing him instantly. They then robbed him of SDG150,000 ($24,600) and fled.
Kass market kidnapping
On Wednesday afternoon, elements of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia kidnapped Nuruldin Abakar Shoaib from Kass market in South Darfur
A relative of Shoaib told Radio Dabanga that RSF militiamen driving a Land Cruiser mounted with a Dushka machinegun attacked Shoaib, an employee at Kass locality, from inside the market. They forced him into their vehicle under arms and took him to an unknown destination
Tabit women beaten
Also on Wednesday, militants attacked displaced women Shadia Ibrahim Abdul Karim and Halimah Yagoub Yahya in the Tabit area of North Darfur. They bet them severely, seriously injuring both women.
A witness told Radio Dabanga that militiamen on camels attacked women while they were collecting hay 10 km south of Tabit and beat them severely with rifle butts and whips.
The victims were transferred to a health centre at Tabit in critical condition.
