South Darfur displaced attacked inside own house
A man of Kalma camp for the displaced in South Darfur was shot dead after unidentified gunmen robbed a house in the vicinity on Sunday morning, and injured its resident. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, the spokesperson for the Association of Displaced Persons and Refugees of Darfur, Hussein Abu Sharati, reported that seven gunmen stormed the house of Jibril Mohamed Idris in Kalma camp. They shot him in the leg and robbed him of a calf.As the gunmen were leaving they shot a passerby, Omar Abdallah Mohamed Ishag, killing him instantly. The perpetrators fled while firing randomly into the air. Abu Sharati added that Idris, who was wounded, was taken to the nearby Unamid team site for help. “However, Unamid representatives said that they could not transfer the wounded man to the Nyala hospital due to the curfew imposed on south Darfur’s capital.” The Spokesman demanded from Unamid to “do their duties and conduct patrols around the camps to protect the displaced”.
