Soldiers clash with Port Sudan police at Nada El Gal’a concert

Nine policemen were injured on Friday evening in a clash between army troops and the police at the stadium of Port Sudan. Fighting erupted when an army Major was denied access to a concert of the famous Sudanese singer Nada El Gal’a at the stadium of Port Sudan. When he protested, the police hit him. The Major returned with 15 soldiers who attacked the police. Nine policemen were injured, four of them seriously.The driver of an ambulance died when his vehicle collided with a bus while he was transferring the wounded to a hospital. The spokesman for the Sudan Armed Forces, Col. El Sawarmi Khaled Saad, has confirmed the incident. He described the clash as “limited”, as it happened between individual members of the police and the army.
