Solar panels stolen: West Darfur’s Abu Suruj without water

Gunmen stole 18 solar panels from the Abu Suruj camp for the displaced people in Sirba locality, West Darfur, last week. The theft of the devices, used to power the water points, has led to an acute shortage of drinking water in the camp. A camp sheikh appealed via Radio Dabanga to “all competent authorities and organisations to intervene, and restore the solar panels as soon as possible, in order to save the population of Abu Suruj from dying of thirst”.
