SLM says Darfur villages attacked to prevent cultivation
The Sudan Liberation Movement faction led by Abdel Wahid Mohammed Nur accused government forces and allied militias of having attacked civilians in villages northeast of Kutum, forcing hundreds to flee to Kutum. Military spokesman Nimr Abdelrahman told Radio Dabanga that this attack was intended to prevent inhabitants of those villages who have returned from cultivating during the autumn. This comes after humanitarian organizations have reduced rations for displaced people in the camps. The military spokesman accused the militias in those areas of seizing the land of the displaced and depriving them of the ability to cultivate in the areas. Radio Dabanga could not verify this news from independent sources.
