Six women, including three minors, raped in two Darfur states

Militiamen reportedly raped three displaced women, including a minor, in Mershing locality, South Darfur, on Saturday. On Sunday in Tabit, North Darfur, a mother and her two minor daughters were raped by militiamen who arrived in the area in a large convoy. A relative of the raped women told Radio Dabanga that militiamen on camels and horses attacked a group of six farmers in the area of Goronbo, north of Mershing.  Three of the farmers were beaten and tied to trees, while the remaining three women were alternately raped for a period of 10 hours. The three victims included a mother and her daughter (13) from Tom Kitir camp, and a woman from Keila camp.Sources said that all of the farmers were robbed of their money and all their belongings. In a separate incident in the area, three displaced people were seriously injured in an alleged assault by militiamen in the area of Omla Sakit, north of Mershinq. The victims have been named as Ahmed Yahya Ismail, his brother Abdelmoula Yahya Ismail, and Yahya Adam. The displaced called on the authorities to protect them from attacks by militias.North Darfur A group of militiamen in 75 vehicles loaded with various of weapons, are said to have arrived in Tabit, south of North Darfur’s capital El Fasher, on Saturday evening.Sources said, upon their arrival, the gunmen began to fire gunshots at random “in all directions, especially towards East Jebel Marra. They also attacked, beat and robbed anyone they encountered.”   At 12pm on Sunday, elements of the group allegedly assaulted a woman and her daughters, aged 8 and 12.
