Six person dies after being shot in Kabkabiya protests
Muhammed Adam Ahmed died on Wednesday evening after UN/African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) forces reportedly shot him during the protests in Kabkabiya. Sources said this brings the total of those that lost their lives in the protests to six. Eyewitnesses at the protest on Tuesday named head of Kabkabiya’s security service Babiker Muhammed Adam as responsible for shooting on the crowd killing Kultum Adam Abdel Karim and Khadiga Ibrahim Adam and seriously injuring two others.JEM and SLM-MM condemn eventsIn a joint statement the Justice and Equality Movement and Sudan Liberation Movement led by Minni Minawi have condemned the events in Kabkabiya. They call on UNAMID chief Ibrahim Gambari and the head of Darfur Regional Authority Tijani Sissi to accept full responsiblity for the events and form an independent committee to investigate the events and hold those responsible to account.
