Six dead in North Darfur cattle theft; sheep stolen in East Darfur train robbery

Five people were killed, and three others wounded on Saturday, in a clash between a group of cattle thieves and a local rescue team in North Darfur. On Friday, a group of armed robbers ambushed a train loaded with sheep in East Darfur. “Janjaweed on camels attacked cow herders at a pasture near Shangil Tobaya in North Darfur. They shot one herder dead, and fled, taking 300 cows with them,” Zakaria Saleh, the owner of the cattle told Radio Dabanga. A rescue team was formed to track the cattle thieves. When they found them, five of the cattle thieves were killed in the ensuing firefight, and three members of the rescue team were injured. Sheep A group of armed robbers stole 62 sheep from a train en route from Adilla town, East Darfur, to Sudan’s capital of Khartoum on Friday. The railway station master of Adilla told Radio Dabanga that a group of gunmen on ten motorcycles ambushed the train in Adila locality. “The train was loaded with sheep to be sold in Khartoum for the upcoming Eid El Adha.
