Several shops at Karkara market in Kabkabiya in North Darfur were pillaged and burned, allegedly by a group of militiamen on Thursday night.

The Coordinator of Kabkabiya camps told Radio Dabanga that pro-government militia elements attacked Karkara market, broke into and pillaged a number of stores, specifically targeting those selling mobile phones and food supplies.
The coordinator said the gunmen set fire to a number of shops after firing into the air before leaving the market.
He said that the fire destroyed 16 rakubas and six shops.
The coordinator appealed to the local authorities to provide protection and to deter the criminals.
