Citizens say it is the third such bombing on the village of Warrene

The sheikh of Warrene village in South Kordofan was killed on Wednesday during an air raid by the Sudanese Air Force (SAF).A witness in the village told Radio Dabanga that a plane belonging to the SAF dropped three bombs on the village that hit the house of sheikh Abdul Rahman Al Mahadi along with two other houses.

The villager said that the shelling had taken place despite no military presence. “Only civilians and farmers live here. This is the third such attack on the village,” he said adding that the villagers had fled to the nearby mountains to escape the bombings.

He appealed to the UN Security Council and humananitarian organizations to intervene to protect civilians in the Nuba Mountains.

The air raids on South Kordofan have increased in recent past despite the UN urging the Sudanese government to stop the bombing.
