Seven women, including three schoolgirls gang-raped in West Darfur
Seven women and girls from camp Bir Dageeg in Sirba locality have been raped at gunpoint by nine “pro-government militiamen” in military uniforms. A camp activist told Radio Dabanga that the displaced women were intercepted on Wednesday by the gang in the Nahar area near to Bir Dageeg. The victims include three schoolgirls. One, who is 13 years old, had to be transferred to hospital in El Geneina for treatment. The activist says that the displaced of the camp have demanded that human rights organisations and the prosecutor of the Darfur Criminal Court apprehend and try the accused immediately. “If the government is serious as it claims, let them arrest the perpetrators and bringing them to trial,” the activist said.File photoRelated: ‘Militia and herders’ beat Darfuri women for farming land (21 June)
