El Tijani Sese, chairman of the Darfur Regional Authority (DRA), has enumerated the services and development achievements that have been carried out by the DRA during its years of work.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday during a ceremony hosted by workers of the Darfur Regional Authority (DRA) in El Fasher, Sese said the achievements include “the construction of 289 basic schools, 56 higher secondary schools, 38 hostels for teachers, 174 health units, 103 police stations, 205 water stations, five hospitals, 39 health centres, and ten halls at Darfur universities of Darfur.”
Sese also highlighted that the DRA financed and constructed two legislative council buildings, the Secretariat of the Government, financing of the building of the Regional Authority with an amount of SDG83 million ($13.7 million) and financing the construction of two new airports.
The controversial referendum in Darfur in terms of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD) earlier this year effectively abolished the DRA.
