‘Senior Sudan government representatives to take part in Darfur-Darfur dialogue’: Unamid

Mohamed Ibn Chambas, the head of the joint UN-AU Mission in Darfur (Unamid), announced that an agreement has been reached to start the Darfur-Darfur Dialogue Conference on the 26th of May in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur. After meeting Dr Amin Hassan Omar, the chairman of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD) Follow-up Office, the head of Unamid said that prominent senior representatives of the Sudanese government will take part in the conference, in order to support the process of a national dialogue that will lead to a lasting peace, not only in Darfur, but comprehensively, all over Sudan. According to the pro-government TV channel Alshorooq on Monday, Ibn Chambas noted that the Darfur Development Strategy launched at the International Donors Conference in Doha in April 2013, and the follow-up of the steps agreed upon by the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur partners in relation to the Darfur-Darfur dialogue, have made remarkable progress.
