Security authorities halt sugar smuggling
Security authorities from North Darfur announced they have halted the smuggling of more than 4.500 sugar sacks heading to Chad, Radio Dabanga learned on Thursday, 29 November.
They told Khartoum newspapers that both the security service and the intelligence agency of North Darfur were tipped about the operation. Authorities explained that nine trucks loaded with sugar sacks heading illegally to Chad were scheduled to pass near El-Fasher.
According to them, three of these trucks were seized in Kutum locality and the other six in El-Waha locality.
The lorries and drivers were then sent to El-Fasher for legal procedures, authorities explained.
