Saraf Al-Jidad school: 5 teachers for 1000 pupils
A number of pupil’s parents from Saraf Al-Jidad’s primary school for co-education in Sirba locality, West Darfur have complained to Radio Dabanga about a shortage of teachers, textbooks and seating in class rooms. A parent disclosed to Radio Dabanga on Tuesday November 6 that the school counts about 1000 pupils and only five teachers. The parent added that the students are seated on the ground, after the mattresses they were using had worn-out last year. The pupil’s parents call for the establishment of three more classes, noting that the number of pupils per class currently ranges from 70 to 80. They appealed to the local and state authorities to address all the issues, the parents added to Radio Dabanga.
