Robbery spree along North Darfur highway

A group of masked militiamen wearing military uniforms robbed the passengers of ten separate vehicles on the El Fasher-Kutum road in North Darfur on Wednesday.

Witnesses and passengers told Radio Dabanga that the masked men, driving three Land Cruisers, intercepted five vehicles travelling from Khartoum, and five others working in El Fasher- Kutum road.

Witnesses said that the militants forced passengers and drivers of the vehicles to get out, and stole everything of value in their possession.

They explained that the militants loaded large quantities of sugar onto two of their vehicles and headed north.

The incidents were reported to the police at Kutum, but they have not reacted so far, the passengers say.
