Residents fear reprisals over death of shepherd
The residents of Delta village in Serba locality, West Darfur fear reprisals for the attack of a shepherd last week, a resident said to Radio Dabanga. The shepherd’s body was found near the village last week. Villagers are afraid of revenge attacks, as those related to the shepherd may accuse them of his murder. One citizen said he saw a group of gunmen on camels and horses crossing Wadi Udri, an area near the village. He said the family of the shepherd have threatened to burn down the village if Delta residents do not pay them compensation. However, Abdullah Hamdan, commander of Serba locality denied there were any people headed to Delta. He confirmed the shepherd was killed and his body had been taken to El Geneina, but he said he had ordered three leaders in the area to solve the problem.
