Rebels hold ‘informal talks’ with Unamid on Darfur
Informal talks were held on Tuesday in Arusha in Tanzania between Unamid and leaders of the Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) “to discuss the situation in Darfur,” SRF Deputy President Minni Minawi told Radio Dabanga. Together with leaders of allied SRF factions, Abdel Wahid, and Gibril Ibrahim, Minawi accepted an invitation from the UN mission “to discuss three main issues, including the reform of Unamid mission and mandate, humanitarian issues, and human rights in Darfur,” together with “other issues that arise through consultations”.The SRF is a coalition of rebel forces recruiting primarily in Darfur and Kordofan. Its members are the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), the Sudan Liberation Army/Movement-Abdel Wahid (SLA/M-AW), the Sudan Liberation Army/Movement-Minni Minawi (SLA/M-MM), and the Sudan People’s Liberation Army/Movement-North (SPLA/M-N).
