Rebel leader killed in South Darfur
A leader of a rebel movement, Ibrahim Sinane, that signed a peace agreement with the government in South Darfur was killed last week. A relative of Ibrahim Sinane said he died after being kidnapped from Sunta market. He was quickly buried in the Um Jeli area, northeast of Sunta. He said the reason for Sinane’s assassination was his continuing demands, as agreed, for the government to pay dues to the rebel group worth 40 million Sudanese Pounds. The killing will be investigated by a team headed by an advisor on tribal affairs, Ibrahim Abdullah and representatives from the police and security authorities.
