Rapid Support Forces beat, rob displaced in South Darfur

Troops of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces assaulted displaced of the Kalma camp in South Darfur on Tuesday in two separate incidents. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, Dr Salih Eisa Mohamed, Secretary-General of Kalma camp, reported that “Hemeti militiamen” (Rapid Support Forces) are currently stationed in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur. They assaulted residents of Kalma camp on Tuesday in two separate incidents. “The militiamen assaulted ten Kalma camp residents living in Centre 6 at about 11am on Tuesday, when they were collecting firewood at Wadi Birli, not far from the camp. The militiamen beat them severely with rifle butts and batons, and took all their belongings. They forced them to remove their clothes and their shoes at gunpoint.” The displaced had to return to the camp barefoot and in their underwear, Mohamed said. They are Abdel Aziz Abdallah Mohamed, Hafez Adam Suleiman, Abakar Musa Mohamed, Ahmed Eisa Ahmed, Abdel Mumin Eisa Ahmed, Ahmed Ibrahim Yagoub, Mustafa Yagoub Nureldin, Idris El Nur, Esam Osman Mohamed Abdallah, and Yusif Ibrahim Abakar. Mohamed further reported that a group of “those Janjaweed militiamen” attacked Kalma camp resident Mohamed Yusif Yahya at about 12am on Tuesday. They beat him, before they robbed him of his donkey, and the money he had with him.
