Ransom paid, abductee released in North Darfur
On Sunday, a North Darfuri, abducted four months ago, was released in Kabkabiya, North Darfur, after the payment of a ransom. “After the payment of SDG15,000 ($2,610), Haroun Ishag (63) was released, after spending four months in captivity in the area of Masteriha in North Darfur. After they received the ransom, the kidnappers moved him to Kabkabiya, where they released him”, the Coordinator of the Central Darfur camps reported to Radio Dabanga. He said that relatives of Ishag said that his health condition “is far from good”. Ishag was abducted from Nierteti in Central Darfur in May. The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of SDG40,000 ($7,000) but after negotiations, an amount of SDG15,000 was paid. The camp coordinator demanded via Radio Dabanga from Unamid and the local authorities to put an end to the abductions.
