Ransom demanded for boy abducted in North Darfur

A nine-year-old boy was abducted in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, on Wednesday. The kidnappers demand a ransom of SDG250,000 ($43,450). Sudanese newspapers on Thursday reported that three masked men in a Hyundai Atos with only a rear plate, abducted Mohamed Yagoub Abdel Karim in front of his house at El Gubba district in El Fasher on Wednesday evening.   The boy’s father said that the kidnappers had contacted him, and demanded a ransom of SDG250,000 for his son’s release. They had allowed him to speak to his son by telephone. “He told me that he was in a good condition.” The father, who is an employee of North Darfur Medical Supplies, appealed to the kidnappers to release his “innocent son”. He urged the North Darfur State authorities to “immediately intervene to save my son, and act to control the chaos in El Fasher”.
