Protesters arrested by Sudanese security in front of UN
Security authorities arrested fifteen activist from the ‘Youth for Peace’ group in Khartoum yesterday, as they went on a silent peaceful protest to hand a memo to the United Nations secretary-general in Sudan. Eye witnesses stated that the activists were arrested in front of the UN headquarters in Sudan. The arrested protesters were detained at the Khartoum East police station and where charged with illegal gathering and disturbing public peace. The protesters were planning to hand the memo to the UN, calling on it to stop the land-burning policy in South Kordofan and bear responsibility of protecting the civilians.
