Progress made on the Hashaba and Gubba peace process
The reconciliation committee set up to mediate between the Hashaba and Gubba cities of the county of Waha, North Darfur, insists on the necessity of a neutral force in the area in order to prevent another conflict and war. This could facilitate the other measures they deem essential to restore peace between both parties, such as inciting them to pay compensation to one another, as well as the disarmament of Hashaba. The governor of North Darfur, Osman Kibir, asserted that the two sides accepted the recommendations, but still need to present it to their respective apparatuses.

The head of the committee, who is also the commissioner of the Kutum County, said that the commission was able to lead both parties to peace, and set up an agreement that should prevent any conflict from happening in the future. The citizens of the two areas pledged to turn themselves towards a new future and forget the bitterness of the past, and also agreed to support the committee in the completion of its duty.
